Over a week already. That is a relief for sure. Every single person in this house has been uncomfortable this week and crazy enough the one in the cast has been the most happy. He has handled this crazy good. But then I got to think about it. Yes he can't move his leg and a half, but he gets to do EVERYTHING he wants to do all the time that I don't let him do. The Wii, the computer, the iPad. Yes we still limit it, but normally he gets to choose one a day. Now he gets all three. He colors, he plays cars, games. And people have brought him so much stuff. He thinks this cast is pretty cool most of the time. He is Lord Fauntluroy. Seriously we call him that.
Having to carry him everywhere has been a bit daunting. The bathroom, to eat, to change positions, to bathe him, it takes a lot of energy. Surprisingly though, this hasn't been half as hard as we imagined. Minus the few times a day that he "wants this stinking cast off," the rest of the time he is happy and it's kind of fun figuring out ways to play things or finding positions that work. With help from Chris's mom he has undies and shorts he can wear. We have to change the moleskin around the edges of the cast, but that isn't difficult at all now that he knows it won't hurt. He can do so much more everyday too. Day one he was reclined most of the time. Now he can sit in his anywhere chair at a little table we have and color or play cars. If he slides off of it there aren't any tears anymore. He just adjusts himself and thinks he's soo funny. So we are in a groove. Now I'm starting to worry about when it is off!
This one has had a runny nose all week.
I have had a goopy eye and sore throat.
The sickie and the gimp.
Talk about up close and personal.
Look how happy.
