Jack's Room

It is about time I tell ya a little more about my plans for the house, right? Well Sir Jack's room is up next. I am so excited to design their rooms for some reason. Like it matters what they look like, they are just kids rooms after all. But they like giving me their opinions and I like the thought of making a room fun.
FUN is the key word. So many blogs and websites have these uber modern or what they like to call, "a room to grow into" type of feels. People are using dark palates, strictly functional pieces, and minimal items, for lack of a better word, to decorate a kids room.
I get it, I get it. It is smart and probably financially responsible to design a room that you will never have to update again for your children. But along the way the color is lost, the inspiration and creativity, and the fun. I hope with these rooms we are designing for our kids that they will be rooms they can use for years, but still feel like kids in. So here goes Jack's room:

These first two are my fabric choices. His room will be greens, grays, blues, and oranges. I really have a crush on orange lately. So I'm sure you will see it popping up all over the house.

On to lighting. I am in deep love with this guy. But I can't swallow the price. :( So I will probably go with the next fella down. I can get it from my work, so it makes the most sense.

Onto some decorative features. Crafty time! I think this shelving unit is such a cool way that Jack can display his dinosaurs or baseballs or cars. But the $98 price tag is a little high for me, so let's make it!

This pillow is also really fun and really life like. Dinosaurs must be life like in our house. We have soooo moved on from willy nilly Dinosaur Train. Bring on the RAAAAARRR!

These are my inspiring starting points. We will see what they evolve into!

I love your ideas! How 'bout you come design our boys' room in a few years when they outgrow the cloud ceiling and the tree/meadow mural on the wall? I am SO not an interior decorator.
