Millie's Room

I thought it would be fun to give a sneak peak into what is going on (design wise) in our new house. So for those of you who aren't fellow Pinners, here is a look into what Millie's room may look like. Why I started with Millie's I don't know, maybe because she talks about it whenever she isn't talking about the Disney cruise we took four months ago.
I always like to get input from my kids. By input I mean I plant little thoughts in their heads over time, eventually ask them what they would like, then enthusiastically say," Oh really? That is a stupendous idea!"
No really, I like to hear their five and three year old ideas, take what they say, and moosh it together with what I envision. Here's the story:
Me: Millie, what color do you you want your new room to be?
Millie: PURPLE PINK!
And we are also having a purple pink birthday party, with purple pink food, purple pink cake, the girl loves this purple pink color. I am not sure what color purple pink is, but below is what I found and I love it, I love, love......I love it! Yay! Go team go!
So here is little miss's room. It is an odd shape. Jack 's tells everyone Millie is getting the "weird" room. Actually the closet used to be where the jutted out window now is and her closet was a homework/computer desk that was outside of her room. For us personally, the homework center would end up as wasted space because (a) there will never be a computer upstairs (which we have dubbed the "Kid Zone") and (b) I would prefer them doing there homework down at the kitchen table or in the office if need be.
Back to her room shape. I love it. By pushing that closet back and adding a window I feel that the little nook area has tons of possibilities. For now it will be a reading corner, but in the future it may hold a make-up desk (we only have one bathroom upstairs, so pretty sure this will happen) or a homework desk, maybe a couch for her and her friends to hang out on, I guess whatever way she grows in life this nook will too.

My main purple-pink fabric I found. Pretty dang sweet, huh? Actually almost every piece of fabric Holli Zollinger designs I would drape my house in, as well as myself, and all of my children in. She is that talented. She is one of those secrets like your favorite little diner that you don't want anyone to know about because you want it all for yourself. Yeah, I wish. She is blowing up everywhere. Especially at my house. And because I am a snoop, I crept around her Etsy shop and her website and found that she is a fellow Utahn. Love that.

Really I should have posted this little beauty of a rug first (sorry it's blurry), because this was my initial inspiration for her room. I found it months ago and purchased it before we moved. So glad the purple- pink theme fits right in with it. Whew! I love that it is somewhat eclectic and colorful and flowery for my girly girl who will love to wrestle on it with her brother.
Her room is primarily going to be cream and hopefully we will get the little area by the closet painted this raspberry-esque color or do a fun stencil. I have been eyeing a few. You can find these paint colors here and here. I love Benjamin Moore's website, so fun to navigate.
Here's my jumping off point. Hopefully I can take these few ideas and mix them with her furniture and previous decor. A little sewing can change up any room in a jiffy. Along with paint, I feel it is the best way to update or change a room when you are on a budget. And upgrading to a larger house now means we are definitely on a budget! Let's see what I come up with....

For some reason, your house plan photos on this post and the last don't appear. :(
I can't wait 'til my little girl is big enough to plan a grown up room for her!
