Chris's work had him traveling to three states back to back for ten days. One of the states was Tennessee, which I desperately wanted to see (unfortunately it wasn't Nashville), and did I mention he would be gone for a week and a half? I had the tickets booked like yesterday.
People said, "Oh, you're taking the kids?" Of course! A, we wanted them to come. And big fat southern style B, I will not be cashing in my babysitting bonds for a trip to Indianapolis.
We started in a city near Knoxville named, Sevierville. Many may not know that city, but right down the road is Dollywood, baby! This area is like the mecca for family entertainment in the south. You want pig-themed mini golf? You got it. How about go cart racing? Wait, multi-level go cart racing? No, no, wait. Multi-level go-cart racing through a two-story volcano while watching a magic show? YOU CAN HAVE IT!
It was like all of Jack's dreams, prayers, and wishes had come to fruition. He is a believer! FedEx Spikey Boy to Tennessee because Jack was moving in. Unfortunately my hair didn't have Jack's same feelings. And mom's hair always trumps. Even though it was so fun saying, "Are ya'll in line for the blue slide or the red slide?"
We golfed, we swam, the kids and I drove through the Smoky Mountains down to a city named, Gatlinburg, to an aquarium. And the Smoky Mountains DID NOT FAIL ME. Wish I could have snapped a while driving down to Gatlinburg. You are basically in a tree tunnel for seven miles.
{Had to do a quick stop in the Smokies}
The drive to Indianapolis was a tad longer than we anticipated. Jack was going to puke about forty-five minutes into the drive. Millie's "bell-bell" (her belly, or any excuse to change what her current situation is) hurt forty-five minutes outside of Indianapolis. Our kids have become road warriors but the occasional vomit scare isn't far off.
Indianapolis is a nice city, but won't be on my favorite cities list. Taylor Swift was in town and the Indy 500 so the city was hop-o-loppin'! That made it fun to people watch for sure! One great thing about the city is the children's museum. It may be the largest in the States, not sure. It was fantastic.
{These were super cool. You could design a sculpture like Dale Chihuly}
This is getting long, I KNOW. To wrap it up we drove back down into Kentucky and stayed in Lexington. I think the horse capital of the world would have been much more fun if our kids were older. We did research some things for the kids to do, like go to a local kids gym where they could crawl through tubes, cross over rope bridges, slides slides, you get the it. We did lots of swimming and also attended a Cincinnati Reds games where I'm pretty sure we sweated our faces off.
{I had to get a pic with Jen A. and Courtney C. in the background! But the humidity had already gotten to them.}
{Sorry Indy, but Cinci was far more fabulous}
{It's a pretzel, moms}
That's it. My caps lock desperately needs a break. As do your eyes.
