I'm back with more hopefully not so boring house updates! Let's turn on a little Pointer Sisters, because we feel like jumping for joy that this is moving along.
We have paint, we have tile, we have cabinets and counter tops, and today, todaaayy we have the driveway and exterior going up!
But to bring you back inside away from the beautiful blue skies, but still oh so cold temps, let's head to our boudoir. Ooo la la!
Here are my two initial inspiration photos:
I wish I had the sites where they came from, but unfortunately I can't link them to any.
I'm going to tell you right now, orange may be the color you find all over my house. Strange, because other than the tremendous amount of oak in our last house, we had really no orange at all. So maybe the orange is a way of paying homage to the 267? If I look at my Pinterest boards for the new house I am incorporating it into the master a bit, Jack's room, the play room, maybe the nursery, and a little in Mill's room. I also am craving a runner to come back to Joss & Main for the entryway. We'll see if I ever dare buy it.
Here is where we are today:
Forgive me for the last picture, I sent my poor husband to take pictures with his phone and this is what I got. I need to train him that, for documenting purposes, we need a bazilian photos in order to choose three suitable for blogging. :) So as you can't really tell (it was also in the evening, so not so perfect lighting), but our room is a deep slate blue. It turned out really pretty.
Alsooo, I have broken a promise to myself. Well I did a few months ago when I bought this fabric on sale:
It's chevron. I threw all trendiness out the window and bought it, well, because I liked it. I initially bought it for the living room, but decided to switch things up. And now I am not so sure about it, not just because I saw pillows on sale at Joss and Main the other day (for a whopping fifty six bucks!), but I am just wondering how it is all going to jive. I have a feeling many of my projects will be switched and swapped and loopty-looped after the move in.
I am also taking on a new project one of these here days of making a headboard with a linen fabric similar to this. Over President's Day we bought a king mattress. Sleeping on that thing is the second most anticipated moment of my upcoming life. And I have big plans, BIG PLANS I SAY! (sorry that is from a library book we have been reading, called Big Plans, no less. It's fun, check it out.) to convert an old door from the 267 into a headboard. Everyone and their dog and cat and guinea pig convert doors, boards and whatnots into headboards, so we'll give it a go.
I also picked up a few things a few months ago from when I still was working at West Elm. A quilt and a few other things that will make their way into the house. For now this is it. The room hasn't been on the forefront of my mind when picking up things for the house. But my next room we will preview (the playroom :)) is one of the rooms I look forward to the most! My inspiration room is insane and quite honestly I will never achieve it. I don't want to copy, per say, any room from my inspiration boards, but this one is a big ole fat objection! I would copy this room exactly if I could. And I will try. Oh yes, I will try.
