House Happenings

Here are some little things we have done to the house when I am not in a complete fog. Seriously, its been a year! Having an uncomfortable pregnancy and a baby who does not sleep (except right now, over two hours without having to put the binky in, wha-wha!!) has done me in for over a year. A YEAR! But when the sun comes up and the little monster turns back into my seriously beautiful baby girl, I don't care. I don't care one teeny bit about what I said or, more specifically, what she did during those past twelve hours. Nothing but love Laney!
First, Chris's mom sorted through a bunch of stuff in her basement and came across old sports posters and pennants. Remember when you would hang these in your room?
On the opposite wall of what you see here was a smorgasbord of poster and pictures. But for now I wanted to show you how cool was I for having wolf art sketched in stone, Care Bears, a Chuckie doll from Rugrats, a porcelain doll in a wreath, and the obligatory photo of NSync on my nightstand. YES, I WAS 17 AND STILL HAD FRIENDS.
Seems like that whole poster era is gone, but maybe I just don't have any tweens or teens yet. I guess we will see.
Chris picked the poster he wanted and she sweetly framed it for Jack. We also re-arranged his room and Millie's. Does anyone else have kiddos that need to "see" out of their rooms when it's lights out? That is sooo their mother, and I'm okay with that.

In Millie's Room I added some drapes from Ikea and sewed a pillow cover. On the wall behind her bed I have a painting project I am going to do hopefully next weekend. Millie is so excited that her "boring" cream walls are going to have color. Well, at least one of them...

In the Land of Nod, aka my creative inspiration, they have  all sorts of fun stuff made form fabric. This one is my favorite and this one is where I got my idea. I think I have mentioned before that I envisioned doing something in this nook. Maybe making it a stage or add built-ins, but I decided to make it into a little house/store front/restaurant.
It is way more fun than the boring white curtain I had there before. The kids have so much fun serving me up some corn and banana soup with a side of fries. I will always order a side of fries.

You can't tell, but you can actually put flowers in the window box. They were off busy somewhere being wedding flowers I'm sure.
I also completed my headboard idea. It didn't turn out great, I'll be honest. With it being a hollow door, I guess the nails didn't want to catch so well. None have fallen out...yet. But I plan on fixing this or doing something else altogether some day. Some other day.

And here's a quick peak at that garland I made for the baby shower that ended up in Laney's room.

Looking at these makes me feel good! Like I am actually doing more to make this house more homey and more us. And with winter coming I'm sad we won't be outside anymore, but hopeful that I will get more fun projects crossed off the list!

You've been there a year and done more than I have in the.... EIGHT..... we've been in our house! I keep telling myself it's because white walls go so well with any decor! :)
It all looks great!
